After you receive a list of references from your contractor, contact them and ask these questions:
- Can I come to your home to see the completed project?
- Were you happy with the job the contractor did on your home? Was it completed in a timely manner?
- Did the contractor keep you informed of the progress of and any problems with the job?
- Did you get hit with any unexpected costs? If so, what were they?
- Did the workers show up on time? Did they clean up after they were done with the job?
- Would you recommend using this contractor?
- Would you ever use this contractor again?
