Keep Records

It is important to keep records of everything that is said and done between you and your contractor.  This includes copies of your initial contract, any change orders and all correspondence with your contractor, sub-contractor or suppliers.  You should also keep a record of all phone calls and any conversations in a journal or log.  It is a good idea to keep a video log or take photos during each stage of the remodeling process to keep a visual record of what takes place.  Hopefully, you won’t need to use any of these records.  But, just in case there is a dispute somewhere along the line, it will be nice to have this information on hand.
