Staging Your Home to Sell

In today’s competitive real estate market, you need to present your Massachusetts home in the most flattering light to get the best price in the least amount of time.  In addition to cleaning up your home and fixing the little things around the house that need repair, you may want to consider staging your home.

While your own real estate professional already offers advice on how to stage your home, sometimes you may need a professional home stager to step in to really showcase your home.  Since the day-to-day living in your home can be very different from what a home should look like when you try to sell it, sprucing up the appearance of a home for potential buyers can require a special touch.  The job of a home stager is to highlight the positives a home has to offer and set the stage for the potential buyer to be able to visualize this home as their own.

When your home is professionally staged to sell, the space is de-cluttered, personal photographs and other items are removed and furniture can be rearranged or changed from room to room to create something more appealing to the buyer’s eye.  Sometimes, your furniture will be removed completely and the stager’s furniture and accessories will be brought in to help create a peaceful, harmonious, inviting space.

The goal of staging your home to sell is to get the house sold as quickly as possible.  In a national study, it was found that staged homes sold on average more than 50% faster than the average homes on the market and as high as 6.3% above listing price.  While the cost of staging a home varies depending on size and location, it is well worth the expense in the long run.  Just ask me what you should do and I’ll be happy to give you my advice.
